The Best Areas to Stay in Uluwatu: Searching for the Perfect Coastal Getaway

Uluwatu was once a small coastal town on the southwestern coast of Bali’s Bukit Peninsula but has since expanded along the coastline. It now includes several neighbourhoods and areas that are prime locations for a coastal getaway, the best of which you’ll find below.

Balangan

Located towards the northern end of the peninsula, Balangan is the perfect off-the-beat location for families looking for some quiet time. Although it is some ways away from the main tourist activity in Uluwatu, Balangan is a convenient starting point for day trips to other parts of Bali.

Bingin’

Over the past few years, this neighbourhood has become a vibrant hotspot for villas, cafes and other nightlife venues. The area also features three beaches – Dreamland Beach, Bingin’ Beach and Cemongkak Beach – so you won’t be short on options for beachside lounging or watersports.

Labuan Sait

This is the busiest neighbourhood in Uluwatu but is also the ideal place to stay if you’re a first-time visitor to Uluwatu as it has numerous cafes, shops, restaurants and Uluwatu resorts. You’ll also have easy access to beaches like Thomas Beach, Bingin’ Beach and Padang Padang Beach which is close to resorts like Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort.

Melasti

Another great locale in Uluwatu for peaceful escapes is Melasti, nearer to the southern coast of Bukit. Not only does it feature several clifftop resorts, but also plenty of beaches with calm waters for swimming. The most popular is Melasti Beach, a 2-kilometre stretch of white sand easily accessible from the road.
