Sunscape Akumal Beach Resort
This beachfront all inclusive resort was situated in beautiful; Akumal, Mexico. Located on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Yucatan Peninsula, about 1 ½ hour drive, south of the popular resort City of Cancun.

This all inclusive property was part of the {AMR Collection} of resorts, or the;
{Inclusive Collection} part of World of Hyatt.

Sunscape Akumal Beach Resort & Spa – Our Visit
For those choosing the Sun Club option as we did, you had a special separate; check in and check out reception, with exclusive concierge service.
Check in was quick, convenient, with a warm welcome and refreshing tropical drink, upon arrival. Our bags were promptly delivered to our room by the attending bellman.
Sunscape Akumal Beach Resort & Spa – Guest Rooms
There were a total of 358 guest rooms at this Sunscape resort, with a huge variety, of rooms to choose from.
For example, you could select;
Deluxe Standard … Jungle View … Tropical View … Deluxe Walkout Pool … Partial Ocean …
Deluxe Oceanfront View … Sun Club Pool … Sun Club Oceanfront and more.
The resort was spread out and there were specific categories and areas, in which to stay.
From special; family sections to their {Exclusive Sun Club} section, this 3.5 to 4 star all inclusive beachfront resort, had something to offer most everyone’s, wants and needs.
Below, is a look at our stay and some of the many amenities this all inclusive resort, had to offered at the time of our visit.
Sun Club Junior Suite Oceanfront
We had the distinct pleasure of staying in one of their; Premier Oceanfront Suites. This guestroom was located in the exclusive Sun Club section of the resort.
This was a beautiful oceanfront suite and just steps from the beach!
Our guestroom included all the amenities one would expect, in this category of room upgrade,
including;
Adults only 18+
King bed;
In-Room jacuzzi tub;
Full bath with rain shower and double sinks;
Large television;
Mini bar fridge with; water, beer and soft drinks;
In room safe;
Hair dryer;
Coffee maker and much more!
Private oceanfront deck with Bali Bed.
Sun Club Additional Amenities & Services
When you selected the Sun Club category, this also special category also included;
Personalized check in/check out, with concierge service included;
Access to the {Adults only Sun Club Lounge}, with premium liquors and snacks;
Private oceanfront terrace, with plunge pools and Bali beds;
Sun Club guest only swimming pools;
Room Service {7am-11pm};
A la carte Breakfast dining;
Complimentary Wi-fi and more.

This was an {All Inclusive Resort} and included with your stay you received;
All meals {buffet and a la carte restaurants};
Unlimited drinks {alcoholic and non-alcoholic};
Kid friendly menu options;
In-room mini bar stocked with water, soft drinks and beer;
A variety of daily activities and nightly entertainment;
Explorer’s Club for kids and a lot more to enjoy!
Restaurants – Bars – Lounges
Even though this all inclusive resort was considered small, in comparison to the newer and much larger properties, you still had a nice variety of; restaurants, bars and lounges to choose from.
You could enjoy their; swim up pool bars, the beach front bar, lobby cocktail lounge to the exclusive Sun Club lounge, the choice was yours!
For dining, you had the main {Windows} buffet for; breakfast, lunch and dinner.
As well, you could choose from; 4 a la carte dining options, along with the {Barefoot} poolside grill and {Coco Cafe} opened 24 hours for; coffee, ice cream, non alcoholic drinks and snacks.
Romantic Dining Experience & Wedding Packages
Along with their full Wedding Packages for that special group vacation wedding, the resort offered a unique Romantic Dining Experience for any special occasion, you may wish to celebrate.
For an additional charge, you could book a private dinner, with the resort’s concierge, or through your travel agent when making your reservations.
Akumal Resort Daily Activities
Each day, there were a host of activities for the whole family to enjoy. From fun water exercises, archery, volleyball and other games to take part in, with the resorts activity staff.
The main pool also had numerous specific sections laid out, for all age groups, including daily planned fun activities with the resort’s staff.
You could spend the whole day taking part in the many activities offered, or just relax and enjoy your vacation, doing absolutely nothing!
Rex Dino Land Section
This is a very cool specific section of the resort, that’s great for those with small children!
This part of the resort had fun;
dinosaur statues, a playground, swimming pool with water slides, sprinklers, splash buckets, fun food truck snack bar, games room and much more.
Young children absolutely loved this part of the resort!
Fitness Center
Located just behind the main pool area, is an excellent fitness facility for those wanting to keep up their fitness routine while away from home.
The center has some excellent equipment including;
Treadmills, Elliptical machines, Free weights and more.
Sunscape Spa by Pevonia
The Spa was open from 9am to 9pm, and included a wide selection of personalized treatments to choose from.

Massages, facials and body treatments are all available for booking and purchased separately during your stay.
Business Center
There’s a handy {Business Center} located beside the Coco Cafe, for your convenience. As well, if you’re in need of cash, there’s an {ATM} cash machine here as well.
My wife and I had a wonderful 2 week vacation at this resort. The staff and customer service received during our entire stay, was outstanding!
It must be noted that this is an older resort and with limited staff available because of the pandemic,
at the time of our stay. Staff had done their absolute best with the resources available, as with most others in the service industry during this time.
The property grounds were very well kept with lovely surrounding; plants, flowers and trees. The buildings did show their age in many parts of the resort, but staff were always busy, cleaning and conducting maintenance throughout the day.
We enjoyed all our daily meals, both in the buffet and the a la carte restaurants. There was a wide variety of food choices in the buffet, including; fresh salads and soup choices each day.
We really liked the {No wristband} feature to this resort, and also not having to; reserve for a la carte dining. As well, you were also seated by the hostess, when entering the buffet during busy hours, which we found excellent.
When looking for a smaller and more affordable resort for our vacation and located, on one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in Akumal, this ⭐ 3.5 to 4 star rated property, was a great choice.
Update
Upon doing a Google search, this resort is now listed as … Permanently Closed. It appears it is no longer, a part of the Sunscape Brand.
I am anxiously awaiting, to see what will happen to the beautiful piece of oceanfront property, in Akumal.
