DJ Property has acquired Waverley House and the adjacent Fleet House, two high-quality commercial assets on the Granby Industrial Estate on the edge of Weymouth.
Waverley House is a purpose-built facility occupied by Ultra Electronics CEMS Ltd, a specialist in the design and manufacture of mission-critical electronic systems for defence and aerospace applications.
The building also accommodates Ultra Machine, focused on maritime defence technologies, and Magicard, a global provider of secure ID card printing solutions – together making the site a centre for advanced engineering and high-value manufacturing in south Dorset.
The 2.07 acre site comprises modern office, R&D and production space over two floors, with supporting facilities including a staff canteen, reception area, and extensive yard and parking provisions.
Fleet House, situated next to Waverley House, is home to the Dorset Echo headquarters, The Print Centre which produces the Dorset Echo and other regional titles, and LOCALiQ, a digital marketing agency – all operated by Newsquest Media Group, one of the UK’s largest regional media organisations. This site extends to approximately 3.25 acres.
Together, the two properties hold prominent gateway positions into the Granby, Weymouth’s principal employment site.
The transaction was led by Richard Norgrove, Property Director for DJ Property.
Mickey Jones, chief executive of DJ Property, said: “Waverley House and Fleet House are high-quality assets in one of the region’s most important employment locations. Positioned at a key gateway to the Granby Trading Estate, they benefit from excellent visibility and access.
“With strong, long-established occupiers and a clear strategic fit, this acquisition reinforces our long-term commitment to investing in the area and supporting South Dorset’s business infrastructure.”
DJ Property owns and manages more than 200 commercial properties in south Dorset, with Waverley House and Fleet House joining a portfolio known for supporting local enterprise and long-term business partnerships in the region.
Last year the property developers also bought and renovated the old Rectory building in Weymouth, bringing one of the town’s history landmarks back to life ready for a new business to take the reigns.
