Legacy Park, mixed-use project in Mesa, is worth $2 billion

Vestar, the Phoenix-based retail real estate developer and operator, released plans Aug. 27 for one of the largest mixed-use developments being proposed right now in Arizona.

The planned development, called Legacy Park, will include a resort, high-end retail and dining, offices and 2,400 apartments. The multibillion-dollar mixed-use project would be built on 200 acres in southeast Mesa near Mesa Gateway Airport, Arizona Athletic Grounds and Arizona State University’s Polytechnic Campus.

Vestar, along with the property’s owner, Pacific Proving LLC, are referring to the project as an “urban oasis” that will not only meet the demands for the growing communities of Mesa, Gilbert and Queen Creek, but also be landing spot for future residents and business headquarters.

“We’ve got a couple million square feet of retail [in the Southeast Valley] within five miles of the site and seeing the performance and demand from retailers in those projects it really kind of led us to where we are today,” David Larcher, the president and CEO of Vestar, told the Business Journal. “[Legacy Park] will have a profound impact on the quality of life in the Southeast Valley.”
