KR Developments founder Kevin Robertson

KR Developments has announced the recent passing of its founder and managing director, Kevin Robertson.

Kevin will be remembered for his outstanding contribution to the Scottish property development industry over more than 40 years. He played a pivotal role in delivering landmark developments across Scotland, England and Ireland most notably during his time as managing director of Macdonald Estates, and for the last decade as owner and managing director of KR Developments.

A post to Kevin’s account on LinkedIn said: “His leadership, vision and commitment to collaboration made a lasting impact on not only the built environment, but also on the wider industry.”

As a respected senior voice within the industry, Kevin was appointed chairman of the Scottish Property Federation (SPF), where he championed dialogue between the property sector and the government. He was also a keen advocate for mentoring the next generation of industry professionals.

An SPF spokesperson said: “Kevin led the SPF from Spring 2021 during a challenging period as the industry emerged from Covid restrictions, and whilst engaging with a new government under the Bute House agreement. Kevin’s canny and considered approach brought confidence and stability at a time of uncertainty. Always reasoned and respectful, he ensured that our voice was heard clearly and constructively.

“His many developments across the retail parks and city centres of Scotland and beyond have provided better places for many to enjoy, but his lasting legacy is the memory of a respected professional who was a kind and considerate gentleman.

“Our thoughts at this time with his family, with his son, Michael, and with his long-standing colleague Neil.”

Kevin is survived by his beloved wife Irene; his children Sarah, Julia and Michael; and his cherished granddaughter Ruby. He will be remembered not only as a leader in his profession, but as a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather.

The funeral will be held on Friday 29th of August at 10.30am in St Margaret’s RC Church, South Queensferry, followed by light refreshments. All who knew Kevin and wish to pay their respects are welcome.
