SIBU, April 18: Ibraco Berhad has been commended for opening its first-ever sales gallery in Sibu, with Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang hailing the move as a step forward in accelerating the town’s development.
“Two years ago, I had already spoken with the owners of Ibraco about launching property development projects in Sibu.

“Their decision to open a sales gallery here is a very good beginning,” Tiang said during the gallery’s opening ceremony today.
He encouraged more reputable and resourceful developers to explore opportunities in Sibu, describing it as a major hub in the central region of Sarawak with vast development potential.
“Sibu is a good place, a very good place. It is the major town in the central zone and has full potential. I welcome more developers to come and take a look around.
“If they need my assistance, I am always ready to help facilitate the development of quality properties in Sibu,” he assured.
Tiang also emphasised the importance of private sector involvement in realising Sarawak’s vision of becoming a developed State by 2030, noting that such investment complements government efforts in driving economic growth.
“As you know, Sarawak is aiming to become a developed state by 2030. This is our goal and we are very determined to achieve it. Of course, Sibu is part of this journey,” he said.
Tiang, who is also Pelawan assemblyman, further highlighted the Bukit Assek Redevelopment Plan as a key catalyst for the town’s transformation, pointing out that visible groundwork for the project’s first phase will begin this year.
“Sarawak’s goal to achieve developed status is not for the government to achieve alone. We really need private sector investment. Public and private ownership is the key for Sarawak to achieve that amazing goal,” he stressed.
Welcoming Ibraco’s involvement, Tiang expressed optimism that the public-listed company’s presence in Sibu signals a growing interest among major developers in unlocking the town’s development potential. – DayakDaily
