While the island of Koh Samui is brimming with tropical adventures, the journey of getting there can be an adventure on its own. Here is a quick guide on how you can reach this island paradise.
Direct Flights
A direct flight is the easiest way to get to Koh Samui. Three airlines fly into Samui International Airport – Bangkok Airways, Thai Airways and Air Asia. Bangkok Airways is the main airline that will get you to your resort in Koh Samui without much hassle.
Connecting Flights
Alternatively, if you arrive in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai or Krabi you can use a connecting flight to reach Koh Samui. These domestic flights are connected to the Samui International Airport as well.
Arriving by Ferry

If you’re arriving from nearby islands like Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, taking the ferry is a great option. Koh Samui has three main piers that welcome ferry transfers – Bangkrak, Pralarn and Nathon.
Mixed-Mode Travel
You can also choose a mixed-mode option by taking the train, bus and ferry. Take a train from Hualamphong Station in Bangkok to Surat Thani, then a bus to Don Sak Pier. Afterwards, it’s a scenic ferry ride to Koh Samui, where hotels like Avani+ Samui Resort await.
Travelling by Car
If you’re a road trip lover, you can rent a car from Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket or any other major city. You’ll need to drive down to Don Sak Pier, then hop on a ferry to Koh Samui.
