Developer Rick Graf has a warning for home owners who might think about holding out for a huge offer from a building company that wants to get a project on their patch over the line: the strategy can backfire.

Perhaps Sydney’s most recognisable holdout house is a single-storey dwelling on Walker Street opposite the railway station in Rhodes, around which Graf’s Billbergia built 4000 mid-rise homes after failing to strike an agreement with the owner.
