HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – The Hastings City Planning Commission is planning on discussing two big projects at Tuesday night’s meeting.
The Commission will discuss the future of the former Ponderosa bowling facility and the old middle school.
The former Ponderosa bowling facility closed in 1996 and was later used for storage by a local business. In July 2024, the city council approved a conditional use permit to renovate the space into three separate medical clinics as part of the Hastings Medical Park.
Tonight, the planning commission will decide on the final plat of the Ponderosa Park subdivision.
The old middle school redevelopment project involves a plan modification to purchase and redevelop the three-story building and renovate it for residential uses. The developer, Queen City, has requested the use of tax increment financing to pay for development expenses, which can include acquisition and rehabilitation.
If both items are approved by the planning commission tonight, the city council will vote on the proposals at its Nov. 10 meeting.
Tonight’s planning commission meeting is set for 4 p.m. at the Hastings Municipal Airport.
