Grab Philippines Launches Green Programme, Promotes Sustainability for On-Demand Services
Grab Philippines has officially rolled out a groundbreaking Green Programme, with a strong commitment to promoting sustainability within its on-demand services.
Manila, Philippines, 27 February 2025 – Grab Philippines, a leading superapp, proudly unveils its Green Programme, enhancing its dedication to fostering environmental sustainability. This innovative initiative features a user-friendly toggle-on feature integrated into Grab’s on-demand mobility and delivery services. By activating this option, users can actively engage in environmental conservation efforts, collaborating with strategic program partners such as Fostering Education & Environment for Development, Inc. (FEED), EcoMatcher Ltd, and the Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary Project. This collective effort not only empowers users to contribute to vital ecological initiatives but also underscores Grab’s commitment to creating a greener future for communities in the Philippines.

Through the innovative Green Programme, Grab users have a unique opportunity to actively contribute to environmental conservation with each ride or delivery they make. For every GrabCar or GrabTaxi journey taken, users can effortlessly donate PHP 2.00, while each GrabFood or GrabMart delivery allows for a meaningful contribution of PHP 1.00.
A cornerstone of this initiative is a vital mangrove-planting project located in the picturesque Dulao Village, La Union. This project emphasizes collaboration with local residents and the farming community, and it is proudly supported by Ecomatcher and FEED – a dedicated Philippine-based NGO that focuses on sustainable education and tree-planting efforts. Their mission is to restore, preserve, and protect the rich biodiversity of the country, ensuring a healthier environment for future generations.
For those looking to get involved, Grab users can easily navigate to “Account” and select “Support the Environment” to opt in or out of the Green Programme with a simple toggle switch. This user-friendly option is conveniently available right before confirming any food or grocery delivery, making it easier than ever to contribute to a greener planet.
Passengers utilizing Grab mobility services can effortlessly navigate to the Green Programme Toggle, conveniently located within the three-dot overflow menu on. their booking screen. This user-friendly feature allows users toge with the program, and they have the flexibility to opt out at any time, ensuring their choices align with personal preferences.
“In line with our ongoing commitment towards nation-building, Grab is focused on leveraging its tech and platform to cultivate a deep sense of sustainability and care for the environment across communities here in the Philippines,” said Greg Camacho, Director for Strategy at Grab Philippines. “We are thankful for the outpouring support of our kababayans on the launch of this program, and we will continuously innovate and explore new pathways to make our services greener and reduce our carbon footprint, nurturing a sustainable future for every rider, driver, passenger, and consumer in the Grab superapp community.”
The Green Programme plays a vital role in bolstering the Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary project, a significant conservation effort that adheres to internationally recognized standards, specifically the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) standards. This initiative is instrumental in the protection and restoration of approximately 300,000 hectares of diverse natural ecosystems, encompassing dense forests, wetlands, and wildlife habitats. By implementing sustainable land management practices and engaging local communities, the program not only aims to preserve critical biodiversity but also safeguards 75 threatened species, including various flora and fauna that are critical to maintaining ecological balance. Through these efforts, the Green Programme fosters an environment that promotes climate resilience and supports the livelihoods of the surrounding communities.
The Green Programme represents the latest and most innovative initiative within Grab’s extensive sustainability portfolio. Launched to address the alarming rise of plastic waste associated with food deliveries, this ambitious effort encourages customers to actively choose not to receive disposable cutlery with their meals. By doing so, Grab aims to significantly reduce the environmental impact of its services and promote a more eco-friendly dining experience for its users.
In a strategic partnership with BYD, a leader in electric vehicle manufacturing, Grab is also introducing a substantial fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) to support its driver-partners across Southeast Asia. This initiative not only enhances the operational efficiency for Grab’s drivers but also underscores the company’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. With these advancements, Grab is positioning itself as a pioneer in sustainable transportation and responsible delivery practices, setting a benchmark for other companies in the region to follow. Through these integrated efforts, Grab is not only transforming its own business model but also actively contributing to a healthier planet for future generations.
Additionally, Grab has forged a meaningful collaboration with Starbucks through the FoodShare Program. This initiative harnesses Grab’s robust delivery network to transport unsold food from Starbucks locations to local nonprofits, such as the Philippine Food Bank Foundation. By doing so, Grab is playing a vital role in addressing food insecurity in the region, ensuring that surplus food reaches those in need and contributes to a more sustainable food system.
With the unveiling of the Green Programme, Grab reinforces its position as a pioneer in fostering sustainable urban mobility alongside eco-friendly food and grocery delivery services. This initiative empowers users to make environmentally conscious choices, seamlessly integrating sustainability into their daily lives and encouraging a greener future.
