Former Jonesboro mall property auctioned off to local bidder

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Commercial real estate developer Josh Brown confirmed the former Mall at Turtle Creek has been sold.

Brown told K8 News that a client, who his company has done “numerous projects with over the years,” bought the 38.89-acre property, 3000 E. Highland Dr. in Jonesboro, at auction last week for an undisclosed sum.

“Turtle Creek Jonesboro, LLC will be the entity closing on the property,” Brown stated.

A search of the Arkansas Secretary of State’s website shows Keith Bayird of Paragould as the incorporator/organizer of the limited liability company, which was filed on Sept. 12.

“We expect there to be a new 96,000-square-foot building that will be leased to national tenants—some who used to be in the mall before the tornado,” Brown added. “We have already had interest from a serious anchor tenant who would bring huge new life to the property.

According to Brown, Zac Qualls and Nathan Eller from Haag Brown Commercial will lead the brokerage team.

Brown said his firm, Haag Brown Commercial Real Estate and Development, had worked for five years to relocate and recruit retailers back to the market following the 2020 tornado that tore through the heart of the former mall.

“We are very excited about what this will mean for the community,” Brown said.
