We were very excited about making our first trip from our home in British Columbia, Canada, traveling further south, crossing the border into Mexico.
I still don’t really consider us as official Snowbirds, as I always had to return home for work, which I might add, helped pay for these fun and exciting camping holidays!
Puerto Penasco [Rocky Point] Mexico
I am always in search of new and interesting places to discover and heard so much about a very popular seaside resort town, located on the {Sea of Cortez} called Puerto Penasco.
It sounded like a perfect destination for our first time crossing the border into Mexico.
This town is more commonly referred to as {Rocky Point}, for both Canadians and Americans.
As well and for the first time, I decided to keep a travel diary of our journey. I did this in order to inspire other baby boomers and retirees like ourselves, to stop thinking about traveling into Mexico and actually go and do it, like we did!
I constantly follow camping trip forums and websites, always searching for new and exciting destinations to travel to. It’s through these sites and chatting with others, that inspired me to finally take the plunge and visit Puerto Penasco.

Lukeville Arizona Border Crossing,
taking no more than 2 hours from this U.S. Border Crossing.
The locals were so friendly and as this is a shrimp fishing town, the fresh jumbo 🦐 shrimp were superb!
There’s excellent full facility beach front camping, some superb family restaurants and gift shops in town to enjoy during your stay.
Puerto Penasco is a wonderful destination to just sit back, relax and enjoy life for awhile!
I highly recommend this destination as a great start for first timers heading into Mexico. This is a {free zone} in Mexico, so no tourist visa is required.

Baja Amigos Adventure Caravans After having a great time on our first camping experience to Puerto Penasco, we were excited to join this small group, for a fully escorted RV vacation down the California Baja Peninsula.
We had a wonderful time and it was a terrific way to travel safely and securely into Mexico, especially for the first time.
