There’s good news if you live in Chicago or the surrounding areas because American Airline are focusing on their Chicago customers right now.
AA will operate more flights from Chicago than ever before and fly larger aircraft from the hub, giving passengers a wider range of premium flight options.
But perhaps the most exciting change is the additional of three new nonstop international routes departing from Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
Here are the new routes you need to know about!
Chicago to Naples, Italy
American Airlines’ new flight from Chicago to Naples will launch on June 5. This will be the only nonstop service between the two cities this summer.
So how much will this nonstop convenience cost? A return flight shortly after the launch from June 12- June 19 will cost $1,306 based on basic economy class ticket.
It’s worth noting that when you choose basic economy, you will pay extra to check a bag and to select your seat.
The outbound flight takes 9 hours 30 minutes, and the inbound flight takes 10 hours 40 minutes.
I was actually in Naples last week to see the Andy Warhol Triple Elvis Exhibition at the Gallerie d’Italia. This bustling and chaotic city is packed full of history and culture and is well worth exploring.
Don’t miss the opportunity to take a train ride out to the Pompeii Archaeological Park and explore the ancient town. This is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the only site in the world where you can get a complete picture of what life was really like in an ancient Roman city. We spent the whole day exploring, and we could have stayed even longer!
Chicago to Madrid, Spain
If you want to get away a little sooner then American Airlines will begin their nonstop flight between Chicago and Madrid on March 30.
Based on flights from April 6 – April 13 this flight will cost $754 for a nonstop round trip ticket in basic economy class.
The flight from Chicago to Madrid has an outbound flight time of 8 hours 25 minutes and an inbound flight time of 9 hours 40 minutes.
With the exception of Barcelona, Madrid is one of my favorite Spanish cities. It has such a rich and fascinating history, is home to Europe’s largest palace, and boasts a diverse range of architecture.
But it’s not all cultural exploration. The food here is incredible and the nightlife is outstanding too.
For great music and cool indie vibes head to the Malasaña district, my preferred spot for a night out in Madrid. Visit 1862 Dry Bar for the best cocktails in the city!
Chicago to Halifax, Canada
Finally American Airlines will be added to their Canadian roster with a new nonstop flight from Chicago and Halifax that launches on June 21.
As you might expect given its closer proximity, this is the cheapest of the three international flights on his list. A round trip nonstop flight from June 28- July 5 will cost $601.
Like all of the prices listed in this article, this is based on a basic economy class ticket so it’s important to remember you’ll pay extra to take hold luggage or to choose your own seat.
Halifax is famed for offering some of Canada’s most breathtaking seascapes. It also has a fascinating historic center and an abundance of museums to explore.
Some of the best things to do in the city include taking a visit to Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse, which is both historically significant and offers incredible views. Or explore the Halifax Citadel National Historic Monument to learn more about the city’s maritime history.
