I’ve been fortunate enough to have visited San Francisco many times over the past number of years, and always enjoy returning every chance I get. Many years ago I used to drive Charter Bus in Vancouver BC, and always looked forward to driving tours down to this wonderful city.

When you arrive in this colorful city on the west coast, it is difficult to decide what to see first. Must see sites include;

 Alcatraz Prison
 Walk Across The Golden Gate Bridge
 Visit World Famous Fisherman’s Wharf
 Explore San Francisco’s Chinatown

These are just a few of the more popular attractions, just to get you started. One of my favorites, is riding the beautifully restored Cable Cars the city has gathered up, from all over the nation.

I am always fascinated and impressed with San Francisco’s attention to tourism, and what keeps people returning over and over as a result of this.

San Francisco undoubtedly deserves its honor as; Everyone’s Favorite City.

It is one of America’s most tightly inhabited cities, drawing tourists from all over the world each year. They come to experience this stunning {City by the Bay}, with its superb; attractions, outstanding restaurants and so much more!

Very few places enjoy such a laid-back atmosphere, varied mix of individuals and an eclectic character.

San Francisco Airport

Getting There

San Francisco International Airport is situated about 23 kilometers, or 12 miles south of the city proper.

The Bay Area Rapid Transport or “BART” Rapid Rail service, easily connects the airport to the city center. This provides a connection to the Caltrain commuter rail service at Milbrae Station, where from here trains leave frequently to San Francisco downtown.

Regular bus service also leaves every thirty minutes or so in the direction of the city.
Taxis and car rentals of course, are is widely available from the airport as well.

Oakland International Airport is 12 miles from the Oakland suburb, offering similar; Rail and Bus links.

Visiting and stepping down into the USS Pampanito, was definitely one of the attractions I enjoyed most of all in the city. It was like going back in time, really making you appreciate what our veterans experienced and endured for our freedom.

As well, in the back ground of this photo is the infamous;  Alcatraz Island Prison.

* Golden Gate Bridge

This is where you want to go if pub crawling is your thing.
