Airbnb Reveals 4 Surging Beach Destinations This Spring

Share The Article

Just in time for beach weather, Airbnb just revealed 4 surging beach destinations to visit this spring.

As the last bit of frigid cold winds down in most of the country, travelers are making spring travel plans across the map, whether it’s Mexico’s renowned resort getaways, Florida’s always-sunny beaches, or Caribbean islands that always live up to the hype.

Airbnb’s latest report revealed some beaches that are pretty standard this time of year and also some real surprises as to what’s becoming more popular.

Only one American beach made the cut, and it’s actually not in Florida. What’s become increasingly clear is more travelers are packing their passports with their swimwear ready to embrace new cultures and astounding shores.

According to Airbnb, these 4 beautiful beach getaways are surging in popularity this spring:

Ubatuba, Brazil: The Best Beach Town To Escape Rio’s Chaos

Brazil is one of the most fascinating countries in the world.

You have boundless nature should you dare venture into the Amazon, incredibly vibrant, cultural cities, and one of the most famous beaches in the world, Copacabana.

But Rio hasn’t had the best reputation in recent years with crime upticks and traveler horror stories.

Sao Paulo on the other hand, is the ‘New York of Brazil’, an action-packed city that doesn’t seem to sleep either and certainly isn’t for everyone if they’re seeking a relaxing vacation.

While I personally recommend Belo Horizonte as a less chaotic city break, the proof is in the pudding that more travelers are seeking out Brazil’s more idyllic coastlines rather than elbow-to-elbow crowds amongst bronzed beachgoers seeking the perfect tan line in an endless sea of banana hammocks.

Ubatuba is the exact opposite of Copacabana in spring. This tranquil hideaway offers over 70 beaches to visit.

Whether sunbathing, surfing, or enjoying the urban delights of the vibrant colonial townscape, the secret is trickling out on one of Brazil’s most under-hyped vacation spots.

Best of all, it’s sandwiched between Rio and Sao Paulo, so you have multiple airports to choose from.

If you can swing it, Airbnb recommends visiting May 1 – 4 during the country’s national long weekend.

Gulf Shores, Alabama: New Airport And White Sand Beaches

See? I told you Florida didn’t make the cut, but just across state lines lies Alabama’s most sought-after destination.

Gulf Shores has long been a favorite road trip destination for southern vacationers in need of sun and sand, but perhaps the most exciting news coming out of this popular vacation spot in a long time is Gulf Shores’ airport is offering commercial flights for the first time ever!

Anchored by low-cost carrier Allegiant Airlines, 6 new routes are set to launch in May 2025:

  • Knoxville, Tennessee (TYS) – starting May 21, 2025
  • Cincinnati, Ohio (CVG) – starting May 22, 2025
  • Fayetteville/Bentonville, Arkansas (XNA) – starting May 22, 2025
  • Houston, Texas (HOU) – starting May 22, 2025
  • Belleville, Illinois (BLV) – starting May 23, 2025
  • Kansas City, Missouri (MCI) – starting May 24, 2025

Whether you drive in or fly in, Gulf Shores doesn’t disappoint. Vacationers will discover white sand beaches and affordable condos, which not to sound like an Airbnb ad, but that’s a great source to score deals here.

Like Florida, Gulf Shores’ beaches can fill up quick. For your best shot at less crowds, check out the western coasts of Fort Morgan.

While tourists ‘ooh’ and ahh’ over this fascinating site, the beaches behind the structure are overlooked.

Corfu, Greece: One Of The Med’s Cheapest Islands

Looking at a map, you might confused Corfu for Albania, but the good news is despite being a Greek island, you’ll likely find Albanian-level prices across the board.

This wondrous island, backdropped by staggering mountains with inviting hiking trails and hidden coves down below, Corfu is a delight to visit whether you’re exploring its lush nature or pastel-colored cityscape.

No matter if you’re kicking back beachside along vibrant hues of blue water or sitting seaside on a restaurant patio indulging in phenomenal Greek cuisine, Corfu is surely to leave a lasting impression.

It might seem hard to believe, but you can easily get by on about $850 per week vacationing here in spring.

One glance at Airbnbs and cozy boutique hotels such as $50 per night Hotel Anita Corfu and you’ll see why.

Punta Cana, D.R.: One Of Americans’ Favorite Resort Destinations

Last but certainly not least is always-reliable Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Affordable, safe, insanely pretty, and lined with ritzy beachfront resorts, Punta Cana has long been an American favorite Caribbean escape, following Cancun.

Boasting some of the most vibrant turquoise waters you could imagine, blue-flag certified Bavaro Beach is always a must and even better if you can score a resort overlooking this world-renowned beach.

The only downside is sargassum, an icky brown algae known to invade Punta Cana’s shores typically at the tail-end of spring and into the very busy summer season.

But that’s to worry about later. Punta Cana is also an excellent way to kick off spring break with a buzzing nightlife scene and pristine beaches throughout March and April.
