Associated British Ports | ABP Southampton appoints Lead Property Development Manager

Associated British Ports (ABP), one of the UK’s biggest commercial landowners, is further strengthening its property team by welcoming Andrew Mills as the new Lead Property Development Manager for its Southampton Region. In his role, Andrew will lead the development and delivery of commercial property opportunities on our estate in order to create new modern facilities for existing and new customers.

Andrew is a chartered surveyor, and before joining ABP, he managed acquisition and development projects across the retail and housing sectors, including with John Lewis and Retirement Villages Group. More recently, Andrew worked at New Forest District Council leading their property and facilities team. Andrew has vast experience in leading major acquisitions, disposals and managing the development life cycle of projects particularly with the pre-construction phase including planning matters.

Ian Henderson, Head of Property, said: “I am delighted to welcome Andrew to the company, we now have a full team in our Southampton region to drive activity and develop our sites to provide high-value commercial property solutions for existing and new customers.”

Based in ABP’s Southampton office, Andrew’s newly created role, which compliments the recent announcements of the equivalent appointments in our Humber and Wales & Short Sea Regions, will further strengthen the company’s property capabilities and boost developments on the port estate.

Andrew Mills, Lead Property Development Manager, said: “I am keen to get started. The port is a large estate with a lot of potential to develop new opportunities for our customers. ABP is focused on supporting green energy businesses, which will have very different requirements with a need to be close to the major shipping routes. I look forward to applying my skills to a different sector and working within a new team to deliver new ideas and schemes.”

The ABP Property team is looking to broaden its reach and appeal to new customers. As one of the UK’s largest property and landowners, this new position has been created following the realignment of the property strategy and will be central to reinforcing ABP’s position as a key player in driving positive change within the property development landscape.
