Share The Article

Spring break is fast approaching, and it’s a great time to escape to warmer weather.

This is particularly true for travelers who live in colder states and are keen to feel the sun on their skin again!

Flights are more expensive for spring break 2025 than they were last year. AAA crunched the numbers and found that the average roundtrip domestic flight will cost $820 this year, 7% higher than last year.

But that’s no stopping American travelers from booking their trips! So where are American travelers choosing for what, in many cases, will be their first vacation of the year?

AAA has released a list of the top ten U.S. destinations for spring break in 2025.

5. New York City, New York

If you’re looking for nonstop cultural explorations for your spring break, New York City is a great choice.

New York is packed full of a greatest hits parade of things to see and do. The Empire State Building, Time Square, and the Statue of Liberty are all must visit attractions for first time visitors.

This is also a great place to catch a show. Big hits like Chicago, The Lion King, Hamilton, Six, and the Great Gatsby are all mainstays on Broadway.

And there’s no need to fly all the way to Japan for cherry blossom season.

You can see cherry blossoms in full bloom as well as other colorful flowers throughout the parks and great spaces in New York this spring.

4. Miami, Florida

Miami has a reputation for being a vibrant, party city. If you’re looking for a busy, bustling atmosphere then this is the place to spend your spring break.

You’ll find a trendy nightlife scene sitting alongside some of the most beautiful beaches in the U.S.

If you only visit one beach in your time in Miami then make it the art deco delights of South Beach. More than just its stretch of sugar-soft sand, this beach is known for its high-end celebrity restaurants and mix of chain and independent shops.

If you’re looking for an injection of culture then don’t miss the Wolfsonian-FIU. This is a fascinating modern art museum located in the heart of Miami’s Art Deco District. Admission is $12 per person but it’s worth noting that the museum is closed on Monday and Tuesday so plan your trip accordingly.

3. Atlanta, Georgia

The weather in Atlanta in spring can be quite mild, making it the perfect time to get out and explore.

Atlanta is a great place to visit for history buffs thanks to its significant position in Civil War and the 1960s Civil Rights Movement. You’ll find an abundance of museums here as a result. These include the Atlanta History Museum, the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park, and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.

If you prefer your fun a little more light-hearted then Atlanta’s zoo and aquarium are both highly regarded and great spots to explore.

Atlanta is a beautiful city with plenty of open green spaces. This means that during the spring, it really comes to life with an abundance of flowers in bloom. If you’re looking to combine a city break with outdoor adventures, then Atlanta is a great pick.

2. Fort Lauderdale, Florida

The second Floridian hotspot on this list is Fort Lauderdale, famous for both its white sand beaches and its culture. You’ll find over 24 miles of soft sand beaches here making it the perfect place to soak up some sunshine on your spring break.

Fort Lauderdale is a great spot for watersports enthusiasts. Prime Watersports offer jet ski and boat rentals and it’s also possible to rent paddle boards along the coast here.

For real adrenaline junkies, you can also try parasailing, or hire a banana boat, with Pompano Beach being the best spot for these high-octane activities.

Away from the beach? Visit The Strip, a promenade lined with shops, bars, and high-end restaurants.

1. Orlando, Florida

After what has been a long and very cold winter, people of all ages are ready to let their hair down and have some fun. And there’s nowhere better to do that than in Orlando!

Most people visit Orlando for its theme parks. As well as being home to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, you’ll also find a dozen more theme parks here, including Legoland, SeaWorld, and even Peppa Pig World.

Orlando is a great spot for thrill seekers and rollercoaster enthusiasts, but there are also wonderful pockets of calm and tranquility.

The city is home to more than 100 lakes. Why not visit Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando which has a beautiful walking trail and swan shaped paddleboats costing $15 for 30 minutes with the city skyline as your backdrop.

For something a little closer to nature, visit Clear Lake. It is a spring-fed lake, meaning the water is crystal clear.
