A Chick In The Cockpit – Life Up In The Air
As a Baby Boomer Travel, Health & Wellness Blogger and avid reader, I’ve included a book review segment to my blog. My most recent read is the featured author’s latest publication called …
A Chick In The Cockpit – My Life Up In The Air
I was delighted to have the opportunity to read and to offer a personal review of this new publication from the book’s author – Erika Armstrong.
About The Author Of – A Chick In The Cockpit
From the front desk of a small FBO in Minnesota to the captain’s seat of an international commercial airliner, Erika Armstrong has experienced everything aviation has to offer.
During her piloting career, she was a Red Cross, charter, corporate, cargo, hazmat and air ambulance pilot flying twenty-eight different aircraft operating under Part 91 and 135 before going to the airlines where she flew all three seats on the Boeing 727-200.
She is also an aviation professor, Instructional Designer and VP of Business Development at; Advanced Aircrew Academy, and author of this bestselling book.
Erika has undergraduate journalism education from the University of Minnesota, a B.A. degree from the University of Denver in International Business and Economics, and a M.S. in progress from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
She is also the 2020 National Business Aviation Association’s Professionalism in Aviation Award winner and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
A Chick In The Cockpit – A Brief Look
I am always fascinated and curious to peek into the cockpit and watch our pilots busy at work, while the cockpit door is still open before departing.
As I know nothing about what it’s like to be and become a commercial airline pilot, when I spotted Erika’s book, it was a “Must Read” for me.
We place our lives into the hands of these experienced pilots, trusting that they will take us to our destination safely, each time we choose to fly.
I do have a family member who had an amazing career as a; Search & Rescue Helicopter pilot here in Canada and a test pilot in the Canadian Air Force. He is now retired from the military and is presently an Air Ambulance Helicopter Pilot.
So I have learned a little bit over the years from him, about the intense training involved in becoming a commercial pilot. What I am seeing more and more lately, which is wonderful, is the increasing number of female pilots in the industry.
Erika entered the world of commercial aviation, when this wasn’t the case.
Overcoming Scrutiny As – A Chick In The Cockpit
Along with learning a few things about becoming and being a commercial airline pilot, Erika takes you on a heartfelt journey along the way. Overcoming discrimination during her early years, opening the doors for female pilots in today’s world.
As well, she reveals a disturbing account of her life outside the cockpit and how she took control, to overcome her personal dilemma, which so many women suffer from.
As Erika points out, her book does take you on a “Bumpy Ride,” along the way!
It’s a great account of life as a female pilot and anyone who loves or is curious about those people up front in the cockpit in charge of your life, this is a great read!
Without giving anymore away, you can grab a copy of her publication from Amazon, safely and securely. I’ve listed her website below, for more detailed information about Erika and which will also direct you to her amazon page for purchase.
Most uniquely, 500,000+ aviation enthusiasts and followers from around the world have considered Erika their aviation thought leader.
She has been able to use her social media full stack platform to educate and share the joys of aviation, to inspire the next generation of pilots.
