An honest review of Luminous Textured 2-Piece Set of Level 8 Suitcases.

Want to know my secret to hassle-free travel? It’s owning reliable and versatile luggage!

Excited about my destinations, I let myself believe that packing and check-ins would work just fine as part of my itinerary.

But packing things into my old luggage gets messy at times. I also remember having a stuck luggage wheel while chasing a connecting flight.

Lesson learned: I considered investing in Level 8 suitcases.

Known for its smooth rolling wheels and solid exterior, I knew the Luminous Textured 2-Piece Set was the perfect carryall for a relentless traveler like me.

Here’s my tested, hands-on review.

First Impressions

two black suticases pictured together

I won’t forget when my 20” and 24” combo textured pieces arrived. Though DHL notified me about the status of my package, I was still surprised that they arrived two days early.

Level 8 typically promises a week’s wait for European countries.

They came in a single package, so I expected the set to be heavy, but they were not.

That’s one check mark I imagined before I saw the set. The luggage was wrapped in a fancy white cloth with an easy-to-untangle tie.

Finally, I got to unbox the navy blue pairs I’d been checking out for a long time.

They’re rectangular and thick with sturdy handles and 360° rolling wheels.

The exterior, which was made of German hard-shell material, was smooth. But if you’re meticulous and look closer, you’ll see fine diamond-shaped lines that protect the luggage from scratches.

I have browsed a variety of Level 8 baggage, and one of the things that has attracted me to their brand is their minimalist designs, which are practical and simple in plain colors.

Though it was my least consideration, Level 8 just gave elegance away.

Features Tested

I never thought I would write about Level 8 luggage back then, so I never tried any peculiar testing methods.

However, if you follow my blogs, you know I love active travel, which means using them is a test of durability—my top priority when I decided to go for Level 8 suitcases.

Despite good reviews across many platforms, I managed my expectations for its anti-scratch technology.

I don’t trust it because I travel many in various terrains and surfaces—old towns, trails, parks, sandy beaches, and more.

After almost two years since my purchase, it doesn’t surprise me that my 20” luggage (which I carry almost everywhere) shows a few minor scratches, while the check-in 24” luggage is still sleek-looking, free of scratches and dings.

I don’t regret buying them to replace my old soft-shell luggage, which I couldn’t rely on in rainy weather.

After my eye-opening experience, I tested the luggage wheels. I twisted them from right to left, and it was effortless and without any noise.

From the cobblestone streets of Spain to the beach wooden pathways in the Algarve, I’m thankful the wheels never gave me issues.

I also looked at the locks and found them to be TSA-approved. Instructions to set a code are inside the luggage, but you won’t have difficulty setting up one without the manual.

Lastly, the zippered compartments inside are the interior dividers I always prefer because they help me avoid overpacking.

But the X strap was a genius and thoughtful addition that Level 8 made for compact and neat packing.

They hold the essential things I need in place, such as shoes and electronics.

The Travel Experience

20″ Carry-On Suitcase

a suitcase on the side of the road with a unique shaped building

Solo travelers love this luggage as they can carry it almost everywhere.

It avoids the hassle of having to check a bag. Yet, it’s roomy, very light, and has handles on the sides.

Many recommend it for weekend trips, but it can easily fit a week’s worth of items.

You don’t have to worry that it might not match your height. The aluminum alloy-made handle is adjustable in 3-4 levels.

24″ Checked Luggage

This has been my travel companion for many out-of-the-country trips. They can hold up to two weeks of items.

Practical to use, I take advantage of its larger space by storing the smaller 20-inch luggage inside when not in use.

Besides the TSA-approved locks, its durable exterior and quiet rolling wheels can stand check-in hustles and improper baggage handling.

What Makes Level 8 Unique?

top view of a suitcase showing its code

Level 8 has developed different styles but has consistently created sleek, functional, and reliable luggage.

Based on my first-hand experience, though, what stands out is its durable material and anti-scratch technology. I’ve been using the larger luggage for most of my major trips, and it has survived different weather and airport handling.

And guess what? The exterior still has a great look and is in good condition.

However, for a traveler who moves around in many places, scratches are unavoidable at some point.

The few ones that my 20” has are not as bad as my cheaper luggage, though. So, I still have to give some credits to Level 8.

Although modern in appearance, they are efficient. Level 8 made them thick, lightweight, and user-friendly. No wonder they’ve been winning design awards!

In many ways, it proves that it’s a premium brand, which also seems to come with a price.

However, offering a lifetime warranty, which is not only a statement of product confidence but also a good deal for your money, Level 8 still provides a great price compared to its competitors.

Who Is This For?

Level 8 Suitcase Paulina 2 - My Tested Review: Level 8 Suitcases

Because of its durability, the Luminous Set is perfect for frequent travelers. Buy the three sizes, and you’re off for a seamless family vacation.

Either way, it’s a great way to travel in style.

Depending on your size or combination, the textured pieces are best for solo weekend getaways, family vacations, and business trips.

My Final Verdict

a suitcase on a paved road with plants at the back

Since I bought my Luminous Textured 2-Piece Set, my major check-in worries have been long gone. Improper loading and unloading are my least concerns now.

I even enjoy walking in the airport while pushing or pulling them with such ease.

With minimal wear and tear signs, a practical design, and a lifetime warranty, I consider it one of my best investments as a travel enthusiast.

I can’t think of any drawbacks, but if I have to give one, some souvenir stickers I bought don’t stick well on its exterior. I’m not sure if it’s the luggage or the sticker.
