Developers did not submit proposals on the former Johnson property by Friday’s deadline.

As previously reported by Glasgow News 1, the deadline for developers to respond to Glasgow’s request for proposals was Friday, Jan. 23. At the Johnson Property Ad Hoc Committee meeting on Jan. 14 Qk4 Vice President and Civil/Site Group Leader Robert Campbell said the members may want to “tweak” the request in order to decrease developer risk, thereby soliciting a better response.

Campbell told Glasgow News 1 that multiple developers expressed interest in the property, but no proposals were received by the deadline.

“We did not receive a proposal by the deadline, largely because of unknown answers to certain questions,” Campbell wrote in an email. “We’re working to get answers about such things as required infrastructure, a more defined timeline on the Highway 1297 expansion, and the potential sports complex.”

The Request for Proposals will be reopened in the late spring or early summer, Campbell said.

The next ad hoc committee is scheduled for Feb. 3.

By a 7-2 Glasgow City Council vote, the city purchased the approximately 161.78 acres on Cleveland Avenue for roughly $6.15 million in September 2024.
