QUINCY (WGEM) – Quincy Planning and Development Director Jason Parrott explained he is still awaiting site plans for a proposed two-story hotel on the Welcome Inn property.

The Welcome Inn property has been demolished. After two mayors and two Planning and Development directors, the city was able to coordinate a demolition.

From here, the next step is for the St. Louis developer to provide a site plan for the approved hotel they plan to build on the property.

“Their next step is to get a site plan to us to be able to show us what the building is going to entail,” Parrott said.

Parrott explained the plan will include dimensions of the hotel as well as details on parking, landscape, and everything else that goes into a property development.

“We saw that as a real opportunity to revitalize that area,” Parrott added.

He also emphasized how important of a role the Quincy community provided to the development of the property.

“You want to try to make sure that you’re creating opportunities that are open to the most people available,” he explained.

Parrott laid out the next steps which will be the providing and then approval of the site plans for the project. He said he hopes to have the plans in by winter.
