The Ease of Traveling to Thailand Visa Free from India with TDAC

Disclaimer: Visa rules and immigration policies can change quickly. Always check the official Thai Embassy website or speak to your airline to confirm the latest entry and exit requirements before your trip. What I’m sharing here is my personal experience.

Getting There: Delhi to Phuket Direct Flight

Recently, my sister and I traveled to Phuket, Thailand. It was a direct flight from Delhi to Phuket. Since we were staying for less than 15 days, I knew we didn’t need a visa, a major convenience for Indian travelers right now. All that was required was filling out the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before departure.

I had booked the tickets and completed the TDAC online 3 days before, and everything was smooth from the start. We flew with Air India, and this trip took place before the unfortunate Air India accident that made headlines.

At the check-in counter, a young man asked if we had filled out the Thailand Digital Arrival Card. I confirmed that we had. There were no issues boarding the flight, and the process felt easier than ever compared to previous visits to Thailand when visa on arrival was the only option

Arrival in Phuket: Immigration & TDAC Realities

We landed in Phuket safe and sound. The flight wasn’t too long ,about four to four and a half hours. It was evening by the time we arrived, and Phuket Airport was absolutely buzzing.

Immigration was packed. I mean really packed. Flights were landing one after another, bringing in wave after wave of people. Even though there were plenty of immigration counters open, the crowds just kept pouring in. Just when you thought the hall would clear out, another full flight would arrive.

Fill The Thailand Digital Arrival Card

Despite this, the process was surprisingly efficient. We waited in line for a bit, and while I stood there, I had a chance to observe something important: what happens if you forget to fill the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC).

There were a few travelers who hadn’t completed it. The immigration officers were kind and helpful, they didn’t turn anyone away harshly. Instead, they asked them to step aside, open the form on their phones, and fill it right there.

If you pay attention, there are officers with signs asking if you have filled your TDAC. Now if you have not and if your phone is also not working, seek help from them. But if you simply forgot to do it before arrival, you’ll just be asked to complete it on the spot. The good part? Once you’re done, you don’t have to go back to the end of the line. They’ll allow you to rejoin your original spot, which is really thoughtful, especially with such big crowds.

My advice? Don’t leave it for the last minute. The TDAC form is simple and can be filled up to three days before your journey. Do it ahead of time, so you can glide through immigration and start enjoying your Thai vacation stress-free!
