The NSW government says it can leapfrog from having the worst to best planning system in the nation with reforms that give councils an ultimatum: decide on minor home renovations in 10 days, or they will be ticked off automatically.
Premier Chris Minns on Wednesday announced planning law reforms to speed up approvals and increase housing supply with a bill that is expected to win opposition support but could continue stoushes with NIMBY councils, which object to the Housing Delivery Authority because it takes away their power to block state-significant housing developments.
